Want to be taken back to an easier time?  Want to relax with friends on a summer evening?  Want to hear some old time music favorites and be entertained?   Want it all at NO COST?

Then this is the place you want to be........... 

2008 saw our first Ice Cream Social.   It was exactly that simple....a social get together with ice cream.   The Board President, Roxanna Hurst brainstormed the idea in the spring of 2008.  The Arts Alliance partnered with the YMCA of Salem County and the Penns Grove Carneys Point Women's Club for the first and second year for the event.

The original concept - an old time social gathering, free for all to attend, pull up a lawn chair, enjoy the band and each other's company.  We planned and toiled and decorated and were very happy with the results.  So much so, we decided early on this would be an annual event.

The Philadelphia Brigade Band played civil war era music from the gazebo.  Local members of the Salem Oak Singers performed.  We even had a sing along of old time favorites.....not to worry, flyers with the words were provided to the audience.

While the concert is free and all are welcomed, the Arts Alliance, PG-CP Women's Club and the YMCA do man booths offering ice cream, lemonade, hot dogs and treats.  The ticket  cost  is one dollar each.  These tickets can then be redeemed for the ice cream, lemonade and hot dogs.  Ticket sales cover the cost of the band.

Want an enjoyable evening while being transported back to an easier time......plan to attend our 3rd Annual Ice Cream Social in July 2010.
